At the heart of the original Wilmslow, next to the parish church, the George & Dragon was the town's oldest pub, built around 1770.
For whatever reason it wasn't popular enough to sustain itself as a pub in modern Wilmslow against a wide range of other drinking places, it closed for several years and decayed.
